The Third Darth Bane Novel

Even though Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil came out on December 8th, I didn't get to read it until Christmas. However, I didn't put it down until I finished it, which was about 11:45 PM of Christmas.

Warning, if you have not read these books, it would be best if you left now.

There were a few questions I had for this book from Rule of Two that I wanted answered:

First and foremost: Will Zannah kill Bane???? This should be obvious. In order to take the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith, she must kill her master and take an apprentice. But will she succeed, or will Bane just kill her and find another apprentice? Well of course she killed him, they can't spend a whole two books encompassing twenty years on Zannah if she's just going to die. Bane is a different story. We all know that he has to die at some point. He does try to take another apprentice, when it appears that Zannah is wimping out. But this apprentice, Darth Cognus, tranfers allegiance to Zannah when Bane dies. *sigh*, I guess it was too much to hope for a Darth Set.

Who is Zannah's new apprentice? Well, her first attempt at finding a successor lead her to Set Harth, a Dark Jedi, who seems to be more interested in living luxuriously than increasing his power in the Force. As a matter of fact, that is an accurate observation. He steals Andeddu's holocron and runs when it seems that Zannah has died on the planet Doan. So she is stuck with the iktochi assassin that Bane tried to replace her with.

What's the deal with Caleb's daughter? When we last saw Caleb's daughter, Bane was holding her over a bubbling pot to get her father to help him. Oddly enough, it worked, and she lived. Caleb was not so fortunate, because when we last saw him at the end of the second book, he had been chopped up into little pieces. Trying to sell out Bane and Zannah to the Jedi didn't work out for him so well. We find out than his daughter did well for herself. Apparently, she changed her name to Serra and married the Prince of Doan. And it turns out her bodyguard is none other than Lucia, the sniper who fought alongside Bane in the Sith War, when he was still Dessel. Moving back to Princess Serra, some have speculated that she would be Zannah's new apprentice. She does seem the type to end up turning to the dark side. Because something tells me that upstanding Jedi types would frown on going on a mad, grief-stricken rage in retaliation for the brutal murder of your father. But no, she realizes the error of her ways and destroys the infamous prison where she tortured Bane. Though it was only after Lucia died to save Serra's ass from a very angry Darth Bane.

But there's still this one last thing that's bugging me. Is Darth Bane really dead? At the very end of the book, Bane tries to do his mind/soul/spirit transfer thingie on Zannah. However, we don't really find out who wins, because at the crucial moment, it switches to Darth Cognus's point of view. The only hint we get is that Zannah's left fist is clenching and unclenching afterwards. You'll remember that all through the book, Darth Bane had a problem with his left hand. It tended to tremble and clench uncontrollably. This can't just be a coincidence, there's no such thing as a coincidence in a book! So is this just a ghost of Bane that stuck to Zannah, or did Bane win the mental wrestling match? Is Bane now inhabiting Zannah's body? If so, wouldn't be rather inconvenient for Bane, since he can't use the Djem So lightsaber form in this body? SO MANY QUESTIONS!!!! I want a fourth book.

First Post, also, Force Unleashed

So this is my first post ever on a blog. I already love it.

But this is Star Wars blog, so let's talk Star Wars.

I have played Force Unleashed for the Xbox 360. Phenomenal graphics, great story, the game play is basically a button masher though, but it's still good. I have just started playing it for Wii, and I can't say I'm as impressed with it. Obviously the graphics aren't as good, but the whole swinging the Wii remote to swing the lightsaber, well, it's a nice novelty, but it wears off fast. Can anyone say wrist cramps? Also, it's kind of clunky. I find myself having to swing the nunchuk several times just to get off one lousy force push. I'm glad I didn't buy it.

I'm sure I'll have more to post about later. Merry Christmas!
